Ceramics with celadon glaze Longquan, China Yuan to early Ming dynasty (1279 – mid-15th century) Diameter 25 cm Provenance: Private collection Rome before 1975
Some of the early Ming emperors, notably Yongle (1360-1424) and Xuande (1399-1435) showed great interest in Southeast Asian trade, culminating in the seven voyages (1405-1433) of Zhenghe. One of the popular early exports in the course of such ventures were the celadons of the Longquan kilns in South China, of which present specimens, brought to light in Southeast Asia, are good examples.
