Judgment of Solomon

This is a study under the influence of Jusepe de Ribera
(1591-1652), for the work “Judgment of Solomon” in the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza. It depicts a woman who, supported by her husband, bears false witness.
The depiction was probably created at the beginning of the 1660s. The influence of the Caravaggistas on the early work of this Baroque artist is unmistakable.
