This museum-quality “Nachtglas” (night glass) by Anton Kothgasser, one of the most important glass painters of the early 19th century, is an outstanding example of the high level of artistry and elegance that characterizes his works. Kothgasser, who worked in Vienna, perfected the technique of enamel painting on glass and became particularly known for his delicate, detailed miniature paintings on beautifully shaped glass objects.
