Octagonal serving platter with depiction of phoenixes, peonies and a plum branch on a garden stone in famille-rose overglaze enamel with rich gilding, gilded decorative border at the rim. The phoenix couple (Fènghuáng, on the left the male Fèng, on the right in the background the female Huáng) strongly resembles peacocks in their depiction, which was not uncommon especially during the Qing Dynasty. In Chinese symbolism, it stands for peace and harmony.
